India’s online food ordering sector witnessed a whopping 15% growth on a quarterly basis from January to September of last year, according to a report from RedSeer Consulting. This growth was mostly fueled by aggregators like Zomato, Swiggy, FoodPanda, UberEats, etc, who are putting in everything to change the conventional food ordering/consumption habits.

Online ordering business is slowly becoming more and more significant for restaurants.

With this new stream of business, restaurants are suddenly exposed to a completely new set of operational challenges. Here’s how —

Every aggregator brings in their own dashboard — orders land up on them. The store managers have to now manage these orders across multiple dashboards, as well as punch them in manually to the PoS system to keep tabs on things like inventory, reconciliation etc. This eventually leads to:

Growth and frustration — come hand-in-hand
  • Manual errors while punching the orders to POS
  • Increased Expenses — a dedicated person has to be employed for punching orders into the POS, managing inventory etc.
  • Missing orders — while juggling between multiple dashboards.

On top of that, they need to reach out to every aggregator for the simplest of tasks like — stocking out items, disabling a store, changing catalogue and so forth!

Solution, anyone?

The solution to resolve the broken experience is by linking the food aggregators with your POS, thereby eliminating the use of multiple dashboards. Ultimately making your POS the focal point — just the way it used to be.

Although an ideal solution, it has its own challenges to account for. Firstly, your PoS has to integrate with each of the aggregators, who in-turn have their hands full and don’t have any bandwidth to spare in helping/guiding s/w vendors to integrate. Post-integration, the application needs to be up and running 99.99% of time or else the aggregators disable the integration. Lastly, you’ve got the challenge of keeping in lock-step with the changes introduced by the aggregators to their APIs.

But provided an integration layer, your life becomes significantly simpler —

Seamless Order Relay

Orders can flow directly into the PoS — no manual punching in required from different dashboards. No errors!

Instantaneous Order Status Update

Orders can be acknowledged from the PoS directly to the aggregators, without requiring any action on a separate dashboard.

Simplified Catalogue Management

All changes to your catalogue/menu can be relayed to the aggregators on a near-realtime basis. No calls or filling in data into different dashboards.

Super-powerful Inventory Control

All stock changes of your inventory can be sent directly to the aggregators — which can be used to accurately control what you’re selling across aggregators.

With all said and done, we are super-excited to announce Hub — an integration layer that we’ve been working on and perfecting over the past 6 months. We have really fortunate to work closely with the tech teams at Zomato, Swiggy, Foodpanda and UberEats to make sure that we meet their technical expectations, while making it simple for every PoS system to work with us.

Our experience of working with different PoS systems has also helped us immensely to make our integration platform resilient to failures either on the PoS side or the aggregator side.

Here are a few highlights of the Hub platform:

  • Hub is currently live with more than 750 locations.
  • Processing more than 30K orders on a daily basis.
  • Integrated with more than 50 different PoS systems.

And not to forget with a 99.9% uptime ever since it’s been live!

We are a preferred partner of all the major food aggregator platforms in India. Don’t take our word for it, feel free to check with your Point-of-Contact 😃
